"Strapped for Cash" by Fountains of Wayne

Well it was Saturday night, I was sitting in the kitchen
Checking out the women on Spanish television
Got a call from Paul who was just let out of prison
He said hey listen, there's something I'm missing
I said I'm on it, honest, it's on its way
You're gonna get your money in a couple of days, okay?
I'm just a little strapped for cash
Take it easy baby, cut me some slack, I said

I'm just a little strapped for cash
Very temporary, don't you worry 'bout that
Strapped for cash

So I headed out west to invest in the races
All the goddamn horses kept falling on their faces
Didn't fare much better at the Taj Mahal
Chalk it up to bad luck and free alcohol
And now I'm laying low, you know I'm trying to stall
But I don't know how much longer I can dodge the calls
Sayin'

I'm just a little strapped for cash
Don't you know I wouldn't do you like that
I'm just a little strapped for cash
Give me a minute you know you'll get it back
C'mon

Strapped for cash
Strapped for cash

Six bodybuilders pulled up in a Pinto
Next thing I know they're coming through the window
Hate to keep you waiting, I know times are hard
Now would you prefer a Visa or a MasterCard

Because I'm just a little strapped for cash
Take a seat, I'll be back in a flash, I said
I'm just a little strapped for cash
No need to have a heart attack
Bop shoo wop, bop bop shoo wop

Ooolalala...

Went to Sembawang music store outlet at Century this Friday.. And in less than 5 minutes, I'm right outside with my very first local music cd purchase! As with the other cd prices, Max Shanti's "From Earth to Heaven" album cost at the usual price of $18.90. Swift purchase it was, but I have been thinking about it for quite some time whether to buy the hard-copy cd or purchase the digital music songs via SessionSound.com. Anyway, I've managed to rip it via Windows Media and gonna be placing the "When I Get There" song up for you all to hear.. :) It was on the 987fm some time ago.. I'm Lovin' It! And yeaaa.. I've got to admit that I don't really have a particular music genre that I really liked.. from a little bit of Trance to Folk Rock.. to Indie Pop.. to Jazzy style.. to Hip-Hop/R&B.... and many others.. Hahaha.. Anyway, here's a couple of songs that recently caught my ears.. Go check them out if you have time.. It's sure damn good! Would try to upload them for you peeps to hear them, provided that no more other groovy songs keep crashing into the list. Hahaa..

- Will.I.Am's "Heartbreaker"
- Timbaland Ft. One Republic "Apologize"
- Nathan Hartono's "Life Is God"
- Kanye West's "Stronger"
- Paula DeAnda's Easy"
- Max Shanti's "When I Get There"
- Hellogoodbye's "Oh, It Is Love"
- Duran Duran Ft. Justin Timberlake's "Falling Down"
- Funeral For A Friend's "Walk Away"

Hmmm... And now, I'm on a wallet hunting.. My current one is kinda worn down already I feel... After checking out a couple of stores at Parkway Parade, I still couldn't find anything that's nice or what. Any good place for recommendation to get interesting and yet mature-looking wallets? Hahhaha.. Sooo many things that I want to buy sia.. I wanna get new clothings.. new pants.. new bag.. Argh! But I doubt my parents will give me so much cash to do so... They already say I'm kinda spoil brat liaoo.. Zzz... How I wish I'm getting paid to work in AS4 lar.. Then can use the money to do whatever I want to. Talking about this, any slackish jobs with good pay to intro? Best still.. those work from home can liaoo.. Hahahaa.. Me and my wishful thinkings.. Gah.

And I'm good to announce that I've updated the Movable Type system that I'm using to blog, which has kinda resolved the comments problem that was plaguing the website.. With the new version update, it really sets me thinking if I should introduce a number of features into the site... Hmmmm...

"When I Get There" by Max Shanti

This may sound crazy
It probably is
But could you tell me where
True love is

Just point me in the right direction
I swear I won't make a sound
I'm looking for a neon sign
It's what I haven't found

They say it's gone south
Where all the good things go
You'll see the flashing lights
And you'll know you'll home

There's no fancy name for it
No one knows who Aphrodite is
It's only rain and rainbows
And the promise of bliss
When I get there, it just is

I believe in love
But it's probably not for me
Romance, the cahse,
The attractive enigma
No, it's not me

There's no fancy name for it
No one knows who Aphrodite is
It's only rain and rainbows
And the promise of bliss
When I get there, it just is

All these questions, I've got to ask before I go
If I never find it, will you let me know

There's no fancy name for it
No one knows who Aphrodite is
It's only rain and rainbows
And the promise of bliss
When I get there, it just is

When I ge there, it just is

Woooosh.

Happy 80th Birthday, Grandpa!
I'm always loving your company in the morning, afternoon and night. You are the one who taught me the lessons in life. When I was young.. You are the one who always try to protect me when I get scolded. You are the one who ask me to cheer up everytime I'm sad. Your eyes will swell up the moment you see me crying. Thank you to the guy above (if there's any) for giving me such a lovely and caring grandpa! I love you madly grandpa... Although I would say that I hate to see you waste alot of money on TOTO/4D, I wish that you will finally win it big just because that is what you want. Hopefully, you'll be able to fulfill your promise not to buy again once you struck big for the lottery.

Oh yes, I can't believe this.. but I've got to admit that my pool is getting better liaoo finally... Hahaha.. Didn't know that using my quick instinct really helps lar.. The more I think about the shot, the more kabra it will be somehow.. Funny eh?

Friday, 14th September:
The good signs started showing when I went out with the AS4 peeps to selegie play pool, which was located in the arcade. I've got to admit that this pool place is better than the other one I went with the class the other time, which was just plain sad. Gen's pool pose look damn intimitating larr... like some professional pool player sia.. Hahaha.. And yup, she's good along with Royston. I totally had no luck for the 9-ball game lar.. Zzz.. I lost terribly I tell you.. Gah!

Followed that was a quick chill-out at tcc's branch in Douby Exchange. Wanted to eat Ben & Jerry initially, but change of plans last minute because of no comfy seats available and the horrendously out-of-tune singers performing for their free flow of ice cream. What can I say.. Anyway, I myself had the yummy-licious but ineffective-in-keeping-me-awake Nutella Expresso! So damn yummy.. Now, I've got the craving for more Nutella liaoo.. Ahahaha.. The others ate their Tiramisu which was of fairly big portion to me I feel. Hahahaa.. If I'm not wrong, one or two of my friends actually got "choked" by the cocoa powder sprinkled on the top of the tiramisu accidentally.. Hahahaha.... Fun fun..

Saturday, 15th September:
Go crazy with Shaun they all once again for pool buffet, after my dinner at East Coast Park at the crappy Hong Kong cafe that was introduced on the TV. Waited one hour or so to get the bloody seats, while the food alone took another one plus to arrive. What the fuck lar! Somemore my lobster noodle arrived that time wasn't hot lor.. It was freakin' cold like a popsicle lar.. Okay, maybe that was a little bit overexaggerating, but still... The food just plain bad lar. Beef kuay teow only have like 3 beef piece inside nia. Ahahha.. Complained to the manager in charge, and they had it replaced. Sheeze. That's the reason why I don't trust televised recommendations especially.. We should have just went for the Kenny Rogers, but my mum just keep saying want to try something new.. In the end, the bill turns up to be quite hefty and rather unjustified for given its food quality and waitng time. The only things you should ever order there are the okay-okay drinks nia, because the others simply take too long to arrive and isn't appetizing at all. Would rather go to the Xin Wang HK cafe, which is far more better I believe..

Also, we spotted Sharon Au there lar.. Looks like she has returned from her overseas study in Japan. She look sooo damn thin, as compared to her being on-screen. And short too I guess, considering the height of her heel she was wearing then... Lalala...

Highlight of the day... The first 3 times consecutive pool winner - Ruben! Wooooot... First time in my life man! Hahaha.. Amazing improvement I would say... Well done, Ruben! *pats myself on the back* Can't believe I won Jeremy, Shaun and Soo Chin lar... Hahaha... But after the clock passed 3am, my body shut down and eventually screwing up the following games.. Bleh. Hahaha.. Soon after I drank coffee I bought from MacDonald's downstairs with Shaun, I was re-energised lar... Hahhaa... And ended the day with me winning the games once again... Hoooray! Hahahaha.. A remarkable feat by Ruben finally trashing the pros... Lol.

"Walk Away" by Funeral For A Friend

All the words that we have to say
They don't leave when the moment comes
We know we have to wait
As the days go on and the places fade away
to dirt and to dust, it all fades away

And the waiting is the hardest thing to take
In a moment more before we break

If you have to let it go
And these dreams keep you awake
If you have to let it go
Walk away

And the shapes we want to see
Don't leave another piece that this puzzle needs

And the waiting is the hardest thing to take
In a moment more before we break

If you have to let it go
And these dreams keep you awake
If you have to let it go
Walk away

And the waiting is the hardest thing to take
In a moment more before we break

If you have to let it go
And these dreams keep you awake
If you have to let it go
Walk away

If you have to let it go
And these dreams keep you awake
If you have to let it go
Walk away (walk away)

If you have to let it go
And these dreams keep you awake
If you have to let it go
Walk away (walk away)

"Before It's Too Late" by Goo Goo Dolls

I wander through fiction to look for the truth
Buried beneath all the lies
and I stood at a distance
To feel who you are
Hiding myself in your eyes

and hold on before it's too late
Until we leave this behind
Don't fall just be who you are
It's all that we need in our lives

and the risk that might break you
Is the one that would save
A life you don't live is still lost
So stand on the edge with me
Hold back your fear and see
Nothing is real 'til it's gone

Hold on before its too late
Until we leave this behind
Don't fall just be who you are
It's all that we need in our lives

So live like you mean it
Love 'til you feel it
It's all that we need in our lives
So stand on the edge with me
Hold back your fear and see
Nothing is real 'til it's gone

Hold on before its too late
Until we leave this behind
Don't fall just be who you are
It's all that we need in our lives

Hold on before its too late
Until we leave this behind
Don't fall just be who you are
It's all that we need in our lives

It's all that we need in our lives
It's all that I need in my life

Random Bitching...

Quite recently, I found myself somehow being rather dao whenever I see someone whom I ain't really familiar with, even though I know the name or see frequently. I don't even attempt to say "hi" lar. Super ass eh? Most probably because of the fear of being ignored back bah. Hahaa.. Don't know what's up with me on this. Could be the fact that I don't really like to initiate any conversation with a stranger that much bah. It's like the admin office lady who I see everyday in her office when I was clocking in. There's always this subconscious part of me that keeps urging me to say something nice like good morning and stuff. However, that never took place because of the the asshole dao by in me took over me as always.

But hey, if I really open my mouth and say hello to you, you better reply back or you are soooo fucking condemned by me! This is especially so to those whom I know one. Of which, I think there's one or two already in my list. So don't blame me if I'm bitching about you behind your back, because you deserved it from me dammit! I really hate those so-called "friends" who don't give a damn to your existence on earth, although you gave that person a simple greeting. What a fucker.

---------------------------------------------------------

Money - the root of all evil. And it is also something that can be used to see one's character. I always don't really mind lending some bucks to my friends in need.. This is unless it involves quite a sum of money which who wouldn't be reluctant in doing so! Haha...

But the rule of my game in life is that whenever you borrow money, you must return it on your initiative and not like after thousands of prompting. That's like unwilling to even return the money lar, so what's the point? That's why I sometimes give up prompting so much and simply treat it as a lesson to learn from this person. I mean right.. for me, I would rather have a friend who tells me straight in the face that he don't want to pay back than a friend who makes me wait for the freakin' sky to drop.. Like for instance, someone says he wants to chip-in into the birthday present, but instead just keep saying that he has no money to pay for it. That's like retarded lar. If you don't have money, don't say yes. Otherwise, you'll just make other people judge you on this.

---------------------------------------------------------

Hahaaha... Looks like I bitched real lot today. It feels simply so damn good to have it out of my chest! Wooot... Rock on dude!

Fare-thee-well

Before the real stress starts seeping into my life in the upcoming few weeks, it's always real good to have some fun beforehand you know. And that's kinda what I did during the weekends bah. Did you kno

Pool day again it was on Friday with the usual gang. It was sort of like a pre-celebration of Shaun's birthday (that is today), since he'll be going to some sort of JJ event at St James. I just don't see how people are going to groove with chinese music! Ahahha.. Did exactly the same thing previously whereby we went to Pasta Mania to munch on for dinner, followed by pool at the Parkway thingy. Can't believe Shaun was sooo not on form in his first round lar, but he slowly picked it back up during that game with him. Was soooo trashing him, before I kenna killed. Hahahaa.. Jeremy's good when he didn't use his gloves siaa! *stunned* Lol. And steady lar.. We'll go drinking next week.. How about this coming Friday? Hmmm...

Mind cafe again at Boat Quay for me with another group of friends, and it wasn't my suggestion! *points at Eileen* Well.. I'm still not really sick of it... Instead, it's rather fun actually being with different friends around. Played numerous games that I really enjoyed the other time. I kinda liked the "For Sale" intellectual game.. Basically, each players were given a fixed amount of money at the beginning of the game, of which will be use to place bids on a variety of home properties from a slumpy cardboard home to a spaceship one. This in turn are then used to obtain check cards. As such, the player with the most amount of cash wins. Interesting eh? Must play in order to know exactly what's it about. Because we kinda overshot our dinner time, we weren't able to catch the 8.40pm movie slot for Ratatouille at Cathay. So I had to use the Starhub service to find out if there's any good slots at Suntec Eng Wah. And yes there was.. 9pm! But fucking hell when we reached there that time, there wasn't even any 9pm slots lar... Kena scammed by the unreliable Starhub service. Sian. Utterly disappointed at that time, especially when we travelled from Boat Quay to Suntec leh.. Bleh! Couldn't watch the later timings, since we wanna take the last train back home. So in the end lehh.. we moved our asses all the way to Marina Square cos Ian wanted to buy a laptop bag then.. However, quite a number of shops was already closed by the time we arrived there. Expected lar. So just camp inside the MacDonalds bullshitting here and there.. Hahaha.. It's good to know that Ryan's laming skills ain't gone. Lol. In any ways, although Starhub was such a dampener for the night, the day ended off quite sweetly I feel. See you in five months Cornie and Ian! Will miss the two of you in the upcoming months.. *waves*

"Falling Down" by Duran Duran Ft. Justin Timberlake

Once was a man who consumed his place and time
He thought nothing could touch him
But here and now it’s a different storyline
Like the straw he is clutching

Why has the sky turned grey
Hard to my face and cold on my shoulder
And why has my life gone astray
Scarred by disgrace, I know that its over

Because I’m falling down
With people standing round
But before I hit the ground
Is there time
Could I find someone out there to help me?

Howl at the wind rushing past my lonely head
Caught inside its own motion
How I wish it was somebody else instead

Howling at all this corrosion

Why did the luck run dry
Laugh in my face, so pleased to desert me
Why do the cruel barbs fly?
Now when disgrace can no longer hurt me

Because I’m falling down
With people standing round
But before I hit the ground
Is there time
Could I find someone out there to help me?

Because I’m falling down
With people standing round
But before I hit the ground
Is there time
Could I find someone out there to help me?
I don’t know…. Why…

This is crap.

Sheeze. I really can't take care of things well... I just realised there were several obvious scratches on my new Fossil watch bought by my brother from taiwan already.. Same for my laptop eh? Drop it like twice and have to get it repaired. Look at my shoes! They were just bought this year and they look so damn shagged liaoo.. I just can't take care of things man. No wonder my mother never favoured buying branded stuffs for me, because they all will look old and crappy again after some time. Goosh! Ruben, you sucks.

Some people might think I'm crazy or something, but I'm actually looking forward to NS lor.. I need some fucking discipline and motivation to do things, and perhaps accomplish my damn goals in life. Oh yes, the weirdiest question I ever thought of was popped by my younger brother few days ago.. he asked me when the hell do I wish to get married. I'm like wtf! Ahahaha.. That question didn't even came across my mind before lar.. Perhaps I'm really used to having a singlehood life having plain fun here and there with my friends.. I'm sort of like the guy who doesn't really likes to get tied down with commitments one.. That's why you can see the crappy quality work I'm producing with my major project now. Zzzz.. This stinks.

"Made In Singapore"

I've offically gotten the local music scene bug! Last time, I used to hate local music to the core somehow. I'll be sooo turned off especially when 987fm's Home session starts playing on air. Ahaha.. Things are different now I guess. Local singers are getting better at what they do. Go check out Max Shanti's "When I Get There" and Shirlyn Tan's "Newfound Jealousy". There's also a nice remade lovey dovey songs by Olivia Ong. And the song that's currently playing is by Astroninjas, which is actually a band made up from different group members like Electrico etc. Whew! Good to say that all these "Made in Singapore" bands are getting better. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that the live performance in Harry's bar at Clarke Quay is good lar the other time when I walked past the area on Saturday night. Great performance by this fellow doing the John Mayer's "Your Body Is A Wonderland".

AHHhhh.. Should I get Shirlyn Tan's or Max Shanti's album? Argh. Or both? Hmmm.. Support local music man! Well.. I'll see how my wallet goes.. Both are great singers worthy of my money...

Saturday, 25th August 2007

Every year, my family will attend the "7th month" dinner, whereby people bid for items at ridiculous price while having their dinner there. Whatever profits gained from the auction then goes to the charity, temple and old folk's homes etc. Aiyar.. Need to give a brief explanation of how this thing actually works.. Ahaha... Okay, firstly my parents get invited for this only last year. So it's only a 2-seats dinner thing. But if your purchase from this auction exceeds a certain required amount, you'll be invited again for either a 2-seater or an entire table one. So our case, my parents would usually bid until like 1k+ for one table next year. This is actually like on behalf of the company one, since the table is registered under my parent's company name, similarly for the other people's. There's quite a number of such events around Singapore actually.. The previous one I went last year was gone already, so they ended off with some Getai fiesta. Ahahhaa!!

Back to this one at Chinatown inside a shopping centre (it was the first for my family members - most of them were held in empty fields). My father placed bids for 2 red packets consisting of 4D/Big Sweep/TOTO, each at 680bucks. Insane you might say, but it's quite the standard price at which all the sales goes. Anyway, buying those red packets entitles us to enter this exclusive lucky draw that could win us $500 for first prize, $300 for second or $200 for third. In total, there was 30 red packets being auctioned off. Amazingly, we actually did won the first prize! Check this out - this is how 5 $100 bills looks like.. Hahaha.. So that covered like half the bidding price already.. Lucky us.

To keep the people from leaving the auction-cum-dinner affair, they actually have another lucky draw at the end of everything. The first three prizes were the Sony Ericsson's M600i phone, while the remaining five were microwaves I think. So each person who attend the thingy has a luck coupon with unique serial no. But after the dessert was served, quite a no. of people left throwing away their coupons. But some left them on the table, which lured the security guard to take them.. Quite smart wor.. Hahaha..! There's this auntie who had this whole table of coupons lar.. Wth. But anyhoo, we actually won the 2nd prize, which was the only white version of M600i. Sweet. How lucky were we that night.. Hahah.. Unfortunately, it was my dad who took the phone. BOOHOO! It's a cameraless phone, but it looks pretty by itself liao.. Somemore it's touchscreen. Useful for army wor, since they only allow no-camera phones if I'm not wrong.

Just before the ending of the auction, the auctioneer began to hasten its item auctions because everyone was leaving lar. Hahhaa.. So it's like "Okay, $100 for that lady.. Callings 1, 2, 3." in chinese.. Hahahh.. There's this suay women who wanted to call for bid twice but missed all of them since they have been closed. So damn funny to see the auctioneer do it lor.. My dad even joined in the fun and bid $100 for 10 big sweep tickets. Alright.. You can say alot of items went off at $100 at the last moment. There's some pretty nice items there actually, which could have gained more profit if they had been featured first. But what the heck. They got no brains.. Hahhaa.. Late night you might say.. Everything ended like about 12.30pm.. Lalalaa.. That's all my bullshit. Hate explanations.
