UPDATE: Hooray! Emailing does help indeed...

Good morning Mr TOH RUBEN.

Your enlistment date is on 16-Sep-2008. Your reporting unit is TRAINING LIST BASIC MILITARY TRAINING CENTRE SCHOOL 2.

Why can't they just confirm the date sia. Tentatively - what a word. Anyway, I really envy those people in Japan. They like have all the funky nice phones, while we here in Singapore are so dated. Seriously, just do a dig at Sony Japan's website and you'll get to see them already. I realised that Bluetooth ain't really popular for their phones. What's more.. instead of SMSing around with their friends, they do email messaging! Each of their phone numbers will have an unique email ID to email around lor. It's like they totally won us over with their sleek phones. They use it to surf the internet and watch TV etc. I guess iPhone ain't really unique over there. Hahaa.. Check out the tv phone - SO906i with Bravia technology!

And it's older version - SO905i!

And these are just two phones from Sony/DoCoMo. Now, I finally know why Zai Wei's Motorola phone never see before in the international market. I'm hunting for a nice cool exotic phone whose functionality will not be compromised. This is because if you were to buy these phones, you have to unlock it using Hypersim cards or whatever. And that causes it not able to use 3G and stuff. Gah. Don't want to remain in the 2G realm with a funky phone. Hmm.. Any recommendations out there people?

Singapore Arts Festival - Water Fools

Singapore Arts Festival has just kicked off, along with Great Singapore Sale! Weee.. Took the opportunity to check out the Water Fool festival with my friends, since I kinda missed it on the day before - only saw the ending fireworks. Hahaa.. It's quite nice actually.. Too bad we didn't get the best standing place or a good camera to snap them all. The performance was at the Boat Quay river, where people perform on water as if they were on the road. You can see 'taxi' rolling about here and there, with lamp posts being erected along the river. Cool eh? Just check out the pictures below my friend Ian took.. Ended the night at the TCC Gallery in that area. Even though I was having a running nose that day, I still had a great time with you peeps! :) Sorry for the mess I had. Managed to use up the whole 2 packs of tissue I brought, along with some rolls of toilet paper I kapoked from TCC and Ian's tissue. LOL! Damn shiong I know..

TP Graduation Day

Sorry for the late posting. Didn't collect much photos yet. If you have any, please send them to me hor! It's rather sad that I actually forgot to bring a camera for graduation day. Haiz. Was too damn sleepy that day. I see my photos - all the shots also like sian sian one. I remember before approaching the ceremony guy, Mr Lim was like saying smile leh. Hahhaaa.. What to do. Blah. Here's some that I've gotten so far:

May 29, 2008

No Date. Undecisive. Lazy.

No enlistment date still. Gah. Sad to say that I'm officially the loner in the class (ex-) that has yet to receive his enlistment status. Boohoo - I know. I have been abandoned by MINDEF! Hahahaaa.. Hope this doesn't gets back to me in the camp. Lol. Just emailed them earlier on to remind them that I exist.. Haha.. I guess there was something wrong with their notification system and somehow left me out bah. Should be entering in September I hope. A rough date would be good for me to know when it's time to start exercising. Kinda pulled off the whole exercising plan I had initially. Hahaa.. Never liked the idea of swimming at night before dinner! Hungry leh. Must start running liao, once that deadly letter comes.

University. That's one thing that has been bugging me recently. With the joint acceptance date of 2nd June coming soon, I'm rather confused in which university to accept. Have been offered NUS's "Science (Chemistry and Applied Chemistry)" and NTU's "Chemistry and Biological Chemistry". Both don't seem enticing to me, since I was looking forward to Chemical Engineering instead. Somemore it's considered a general degree, rather than a specialised one by one lecturer. So the situation I'm in now is.. I have two offered courses that I have not much interest in, and have to make a decision between the two. Always had a better impression of NTU than NUS actually, probably because of the number of visits I had to NTU bah during the Synergy business competition. NUS's campus is just too complex for me! Or should I say messy. Haha. Somemore NTU offers direct honours, as compared to NUS in which only the top few % can get into. Also hor.. There is several articles on the net about how NUS lecturers are so snobbish towards poly students, even at their open house. Hmm.. Elitist attitude. *looks at the whole government structure* HEADACHE arh!

I'm actually somewhat considering heading to Aussie for studies. Mum has given me the green light to do so. Somemore for a "Chemical Engineering" degree there only takes 2 years to complete, from what I heard from Grace Soh who's heading next year. Perhaps it's also easier to earn a scholarship there? *crossfingers* That would kinda decrease the 20k per year school fees, which is quite alright compared to other countries like US and UK. Will have to check out the IDP office soon.. Gave their recent event a missed, cos no one was interested in joining me. Gah. But before all these, I really hope my upcoming appeal will get through for NUS or NTU! Local university's the way to go, for it is cheap and subsided by the goverment - we don't pay taxes for nothing hor. Hahha.. Writing an appeal always turns me off somehow - bleh! Need to get it done real soon.. 50 words for NTU nia. =.="

Oh yes. My house is going to be undergoing a heavy works, diy-ed by my father once again. Hahaa.. He intends to add additional floor space on the high ceiling of the living room soon. Cover about half of the top space bah. If fully enclosed, sunlight will be drastically be reduced in the living room I feel. Hope that goes well, and I'll get a brand new bigger room - no more sharing! But it's also a short-lived hooray, considering that I'm gonna head to the camp soon. Anyhoo.. I guess I can consider it an early good 21-yo gift bah, so I shall not expect much from them either. And somemore as mentioned, I'll be in camp. Bleh.

Genting - City of Entertainment

Woohooo! I've passed my driving test, and I'm now waiting for my photocard driving license to arrive soon. But a stupid payment issue thanks to the auntie there kinda dampened my mood then, especially after 1.5hours of queuing. Zzz. TP should seriously do something about their branch at SSDC - during lunch break when there's suppose to be the most no. of ppl only one freakin' counter opened. Zzz.. Had to go back to SSDC to make my payment again, after the auntie realised that my payment didn't get through. Zzz..

14 points alright, but proud to say that my circuit only got a deduction of 2 points. Haha.. Was overexcited when coming back from road since I knew I have passed already and as a result, I was 'complacent' (a very famous word after Mas Selamat escape) and didn't do my engine brake quite properly on my bends - didn't release the clutch enough for engine break after changing down. A total of 8 points all came from my braking. Hahaha.. Ouch I know. Oh yar, tester didn't test my emergency break (which I was most fearful of actually), even though it was clear of traffic enough to do so. Haha.. Also, there was any traffic for lane changing at my time slot too, since it was at 10.15am (which was considered the best). Certainly worth the additional wait of 3 weeks for this test date. Haha.. Lucky me alright. Was the 2nd to return from the time slot wor. Hehe. Night chillouts and midnight supper here I come!

Genting! Just been here last year I think. Was there for a 3 days 2 nights stay. Mainly it was a trip for my dad and grandma to gamble their way to fortunes. *cough cough* I can say my granny's good cos she knows when to stop, as a result she won like 2K i think. My dad on the other hand gave his wallet to Mr. Jackpot. Hahhaa.. Really don't get what's so shiok about casino. Too bad I cannot enter, since I was still a year short of the legal age for casino entry.

First night, watched their movie premiere for "The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian". Damn it's like way earlier as compared to Singapore, in which officially debuts on 29th May. But I've got nothing to say about their seats lar. Just see the below image. Hahaha.. They screened the movie at their "Genting International Showroom", which isn't their actual cinema located at the FIrst World place. Oh yar, they were having a "X Live" event that night, where apparently Missy Elliot and other celebrities were coming down to perform. So the themepark was jamming with club music, with outdoor rides going throughout the night. Funky, but it's rather pathetic for its turnout. Looks like Malaysians don't quite club. Or it could be due to the venue bah. And hell man. 'The Click Five' is going to perform there in early June sia. And the cheapest ticket is only RM60, which is 25 sing dollars! For Singapore's concert, it cost like $68 lor. Zzz.. Sad lar.

Of course, Genting was a place where we play golf too with my family at the Awana Country Club. If not, what's the point of paying monthly fees when we go there once a blue moon nia. But the club did a splendid job renovating the place - it looked totally fresh and resort-like now. And thanks to my rusty skills, it took a while before I get a hang of it back. After that, it was a smooth run throughout. Didn't realise that I actually got tanned on Genting. Lol. A really slight one though. The weather ain't really that hot to realise, unlike Singapore's current one. Zzz.. I totally love driving the buggy across the bridge in part of the course. Hahaa.. The most scenic sight of the course to me.

Anyway, this trip to Genting was totally different from all the others since we didn't quite had the time to do our outdoor games. Instead, we did shopping and was having our grandfather tagging along. He doesn't quite like the idea of sitting at the jackpot till your ass crack. Hahah.. He was like saying how he was trying to spend away the little money he had set aside for the jackpot machine, but couldn't do so with some money returning everynow and then. Hahhaa.. Oh yes, so we took this opportunity to take all the kiddy rides! Hahhaa.. Kinda like using my grandpa as an excuse to do so. xD The worm-like monorail. The swan-looking thing that foats on the top of the indoor themepark. Hahaha.. Short fun here and there! :) Ain't my grandpa cute pretending to be riding on that bike, even though he had trouble moving around. Hahaa.. So damn sporting sia him. Lol.

Last but not least, just want to show you guys a picture of the nice place to makan at Gelang something, a stop before the Malaysia's checkpoint to Tuas. Lol. They took Singapore's kopitiam style and did it better! Hahaha.. You can see the brightly-lighted "777" when you make the turn into the road. Hahhaa.. And there's also a pool lounge above, as good as Parkway Parade's one. Oh yes, that big screen TV was showing the "Ye Man Ge Ge" show alright. Good show. Hahhaa..

Enlistment Date - Round 2

Damn. I'm seriously bothered by the fact that my enlistment date is nowhere to be found. Why the hell am I born in Dragon year man. Zzz... I have heard the news that the July intake has long been full and most likely to be in the October slots. So did my own research and found the following most probable BMT enlistment dates on the MINDEF website. For those who still didn't know that they can check their enlistment date online, click here to do so (refer to my awesome guide here). Haha...

BMTC School 1BMTC School 2
12-Sep-200811-Sep-2008
13-Sep-200812-Sep-2008
9-Oct-200815-Sep-2008
20-Oct-200829-Sep-2008
8-Oct-2008
24-Oct-2008

As you can see there's not much dates left for the many of us out here. So I guess they will most likely be adding more enlistment dates ba. Hate the feeling of being left out to wander about. Haha.. And I have to agree with that someone that those who have yet to be enlisted are fairly more intelligent. Rofl! Leaving the best few for last - white horse! *tsk tsk* Just kidding about the intelligence thing, no offence to anyone out there feeling dumb yeaa.. *opps again!* Ahahaa.. Damn. I'm such a bs. Lol.

A busy week it has been. I've been trying to get ready the ISO documentation as soon as possible for the upcoming meeting with the consultant, but other work seem to be piling up somehow. On top of that, I'm having a half-day thing this week so that I can go for my driving practical lessons in the morning. I can say that I'm quite excited (or should I say anxious) about the test day simply by thinking of it. Hope that wouldn't make me do some stupid mistake here and there. One more day of practise tomorrow and it's showtime on Friday. *crossfingers* Although my practice sessions had been good so far, I guess I better not get my hopes too high on passing - will just concentrate on my driving that day and doing my best at it.

The few dumb mistakes that I've still been doing would be not checking the blindspots when entering the deceleration lane or the side road, despite doing so for all the actual turns. Keep forgetting that it was considered "changing lane". If you ask me to change lane, I would do my thing of course but this one somehow doesn't seep in my brain well. For the what-I-consider-a-real lane changing, there's a tendency for me to rush even though there's no car - need to take it slow man. That's all my common road mistakes. Circuit wise, the only thing I'm fearful of is the damn emergency break since I've done it a couple of tries only. I scared I lag in reaction lar or slam the brake too softly. Haha...Other than this, everything is rather fine.

Oh yar.. I finally realised that importance of horning today. Lol. At the junction, a stupid driver on the opposite side of road turned right when vehicles are approaching it lar. Haha.. Did my safety precaution slow down to let it pass etc, which is good. But didn't realise that not horning at the car means not aware of the danger posed by it. Hahaa.. And that would be like 10 demerit points. We were taught what the horn does, but never actually use it in any practical sessions before since there weren't any dangers at all. Even if there is, the instructor will usually be the one doing the horning since they got a 'private' horn. Tell 'bout it. Hahhahaa...

"Just Dance" by Lady GaGa Ft. Colby O'Donis & Akon

A red one
Convict Gaga
I've had a little bit too much
All of the people start to rush. Start to rush babe.
How does he twist the dance?
Can't find my drink or man.
Where are my keys, I lost my phone.
What's go-ing out on the floor?
I love this record baby, but I can't see straight anymore.
Keep it cool what's the name of this club?
I can't remember but it's alright, alright.

Chorus:
Just dance. Gunna be okay.
Da-doo-doo-doo
Just dance. Spin that record babe.
Da-doo-doo-doo
Just dance. Gunna be okay.
Duh-duh-duh-duh
Dance. Dance. Dance. Ju-just dance.

Wish I could shut my playboy mouth.
How'd I turn my shirt inside out? Inside out babe.
Control your poison babe
Roses with thorns they say.
And we're all gettin' hosed tonight.
What's go-ing out on the floor?
I love this record baby, but I can't see straight anymore.
Keep it cool what's the name of this club?
I can't remember but it's alright, alright.

Chorus

When I come through on the dance floor checkin out that catalogue.
Can't believe my eyes so many women without a flaw.
And I ain't gonn' give it up, steady tryna pick it up like the car
I'ma hit it, I'ma hit it and flex until the til done until tomorr' yeah.
Show me I can see that you got so much in the jean
The way you twirling up them hips round and round
There's no reason, I know why you can't leave here with me
In the meantime stand, let me watch you break it down.

Chorus

I'm psychotic synchopatic
I got my blue burners and phonic
I'm psychotic synchopatic
I got my brand electronic
I'm psychotic synchopatic
I got my blue burners and phonic
I'm psychotic synchopatic
I got my brand electronic

Go. Use your muscle comin out work and hustle
I got it, just stay close enough to get it
Go slow. Drive it, clean it like so clean it's been molesto, I got it, and your popped coll'

Chorus

The song gets kinda addictive after listening it over and over again. Music is totally like drugs man. Anyway, this video kinda too pixelated for good viewing. You can say that she's like a Gwen Stefani wannabe bah. Haha.. Great songs. What's more it feature the up-and-coming Colby O'Donis, whose songs totally rocked so far. Hmm... Not much of a video review. Lol.
